The 7 Basic Quality Tools (7 QC Tools)

05 – 09 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi26 – 30 Oct. 2026, Dubai

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The 7 Basic Quality Tools represent a fundamental set of graphical and statistical techniques used to troubleshoot quality-related issues and improve business processes. Originally popularized by Kaoru Ishikawa, these tools provide a structured approach to data collection and analysis that is accessible to employees at all levels of an organization. This course provides a hands-on introduction to these essential instruments, demonstrating how they can be used to visualize complex information and make data-driven decisions on the shop floor or in the office.

The scope of this training involves the practical application of each tool within the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle. Participants will learn how to select the right tool for a specific problem, from identifying the root cause of a defect to monitoring process stability over time. The curriculum emphasizes the transition from subjective "gut-feel" problem solving to objective analysis based on factual evidence, ensuring that participants can contribute meaningfully to their organization’s continuous improvement initiatives.

Coverage includes detailed instruction on Check Sheets, Fishbone Diagrams, Histograms, Pareto Charts, Scatter Diagrams, Stratification, and Control Charts. Attendees will engage in practical exercises using real-world data sets to construct and interpret these charts. By the end of this course, participants will be equipped with a universal "quality toolkit" that enables them to identify patterns, prioritize improvements, and communicate technical findings clearly to management and peers.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Explain the history and purpose of the 7 Basic Quality Tools.
  • Design effective Check Sheets for accurate data collection.
  • Facilitate a Fishbone Diagram session to identify potential causes.
  • Construct Histograms to visualize data distribution and central tendency.
  • Utilize Pareto Charts to prioritize the "vital few" problems.
  • Create Scatter Diagrams to identify correlations between variables.
  • Apply Stratification techniques to isolate specific data sources.
  • Interpret basic Control Charts to monitor process stability.
  • Select the appropriate QC tool based on the type of problem.
  • Use data visualization to communicate quality trends to leadership.
  • Integrate the 7 QC tools into daily problem-solving routines.
  • Support Six Sigma and Lean projects using foundational data tools.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Frontline Operators, Supervisors, Quality Inspectors, Junior Engineers, and Team Leaders across all industrial and service sectors.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
