ISO 30000 Internal Auditor (Ship Recycling)

23 – 27 Mar. 2026, Abu Dhabi17 – 21 Aug. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

ISO 30000 is the international standard for Ship Recycling Management Systems (SRMS), specifically designed for facilities aiming to dismantle ships in a safe and environmentally sound manner. This internal auditor course provides the essential skills to evaluate the technical and operational compliance of shipbreaking yards. Participants will learn how to conduct internal assessments that identify risks to worker safety and the environment, ensuring that the facility meets the stringent requirements of the standard and international maritime conventions.

The scope of this training involves the application of audit principles to the unique and hazardous environment of a ship recycling facility. Attendees will explore how to audit the management of hazardous materials, the integrity of the dismantling process, and the effectiveness of worker health monitoring programs. The curriculum focuses on the internal auditor’s ability to verify that "Ship-Specific Recycling Plans" are being executed correctly and that hazardous waste is being handled with full traceability.

Coverage includes audit planning, on-site hazard hunting, and the evaluation of emergency response capabilities within the shipyard. Participants will learn how to interview shipyard personnel, review technical disposal records, and document nonconformities that could lead to environmental contamination or workplace accidents. By the end of the course, participants will be able to provide the shipyard management with objective data to improve safety performance and maintain ISO 30000 accreditation.
