COURSE OVERVIEW:
Internal auditing is a critical requirement for maintaining an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS). This course is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to perform effective internal audits that add value to the organization. By learning the technicalities of the audit process, participants will be able to identify gaps in environmental compliance, evaluate the effectiveness of operational controls, and drive continuous improvement in environmental performance.
The scope of this training covers the entire audit lifecycle as outlined in the ISO 19011 guidelines. Participants will learn how to plan an audit, conduct on-site activities, and report findings with technical precision. The curriculum focuses on auditing specific EMS requirements, such as the assessment of significant environmental aspects, the evaluation of legal compliance, and the verification of emergency preparedness and response protocols.
Coverage includes advanced auditing techniques such as interviewing, evidence sampling, and the categorization of non-conformities. The course emphasizes the auditor's role as an objective evaluator who helps the organization mitigate environmental risks and meet its sustainability goals. Participants will engage in practical exercises and role-playing scenarios to build the confidence needed to conduct professional audits that satisfy both internal management and external certification bodies.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

- Develop a comprehensive Internal Audit Program and individual Audit Plans.
- Construct effective Audit Checklists based on environmental risks.

- Verify the organization’s compliance with legal and other requirements.
- Audit the effectiveness of operational controls and emergency plans.
- Identify and document non-conformities and opportunities for improvement.

- Maintain professional ethics, confidentiality, and objectivity during audits.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:
A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
