Auditing Oil and Gas Industry Quality Management Systems

08 – 12 June 2026, Abu Dhabi26 – 30 Oct. 2026, Sharm El Shaikh

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The oil and gas industry operates in high-risk environments where quality management is inextricably linked to safety, environmental protection, and operational continuity. This course is designed to equip auditors with the specialized skills required to evaluate Quality Management Systems (QMS) specifically within the context of petroleum, petrochemical, and natural gas organizations. It focuses on the rigorous standards necessary to manage complex supply chains and high-integrity equipment manufacturing.

The scope of the training covers the application of ISO 9001 and API Spec Q1/Q2 requirements throughout the industry value chain, from exploration and production to refining and distribution. Participants will learn how to audit specialized processes such as non-destructive testing, welding, and pressure containment, where a failure in quality can lead to catastrophic consequences. The course emphasizes a risk-based auditing approach, moving beyond simple compliance to assess the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies.

Coverage includes the unique documentation requirements of the energy sector, such as material traceability, design verification for extreme environments, and service quality plans. Attendees will practice auditing techniques for supplier management, contingency planning, and preventive maintenance systems. By the end of the course, participants will be able to provide value-added audit findings that help oil and gas organizations enhance their reliability, reduce non-productive time, and meet the stringent expectations of international regulators.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Interpret ISO 9001 and API Spec Q1/Q2 requirements for the energy sector.
  • Plan and conduct risk-based audits for complex oil and gas operations.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of design and development controls for subsea and topside equipment.
  • Audit material traceability systems from raw material to finished product.
  • Assess the competence and certification of personnel in specialized roles (NDT, Welding).
  • Verify the implementation of contingency and emergency response plans within the QMS.
  • Audit the selection, evaluation, and monitoring of critical industry suppliers.
  • Identify gaps in preventive maintenance and equipment calibration programs.
  • Use evidence-based techniques to audit service quality and offshore operations.
  • Write clear, concise non-conformity reports that drive root cause analysis.
  • Evaluate the maturity of an organization’s Quality Culture and Leadership commitment.
  • Lead opening and closing meetings with confidence in a professional industry setting.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Internal Auditors, Quality Managers in Oil and Gas, Supply Chain Auditors, Compliance Officers, HSE Professionals, and Engineers involved in API Spec Q1/Q2 compliance.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
