Value Engineering (VE) and Value Analysis Workshop
| 20 – 24 Apr. 2026, Abu Dhabi | 17 – 21 Aug. 2026, Dubai |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
Value Engineering (VE) is a systematic, multi-disciplinary approach used to optimize the value of a project by examining the relationship between "Function" and "Cost." This course provides a comprehensive workshop-style framework for Value Engineering and Value Analysis, focusing on the elimination of unnecessary costs without compromising quality, safety, or performance. It addresses the strategic importance of "Functional Analysis" to ensure that every project element contributes directly to the stakeholder’s primary objectives.
The scope of this training encompasses the technical application of the "Job Plan," the utilization of "FAST Diagramming" (Function Analysis System Technique), and the execution of "Creativity and Brainstorming" sessions. Participants will learn how to distinguish between "Basic" and "Secondary" functions, evaluate "Life Cycle Costs" (LCC), and implement "Value Improvement Proposals" (VIPs). The course provides practical tools for "Idea Ranking," "Feasibility Assessment," and the presentation of "Value Recommendations" to senior management.
Coverage includes the analysis of the SAVE International standards, the implementation of "Pre-Workshop Data Gathering," and the execution of the "Six-Phase Job Plan." Attendees will explore the psychological barriers to value improvement and learn how to facilitate a "Value Study" across different project disciplines. By mastering value engineering and value analysis, professionals will be able to deliver high-performance assets at the lowest possible cost, enhance resource efficiency, and maximize the overall return on investment for their organizations.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
- Apply the "Value Engineering Job Plan" (Six-Phase Process).
- Execute "Functional Analysis" using Verb-Noun definitions.
- Construct and interpret "FAST Diagrams."
- Distinguish between "Basic," "Secondary," and "Aesthetic" functions.
- Facilitate "Creativity and Brainstorming" sessions for value alternatives.
- Evaluate the "Life Cycle Cost" (LCC) of proposed improvements.
- Utilize "Weighted Evaluation" to rank and select value ideas.
- Develop "Value Improvement Proposals" (VIP) for implementation.
- Identify and eliminate "Unnecessary Costs" in design and operations.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary "Value Engineering Workshop."
- Present "Value Recommendations" and "Cost Savings" to stakeholders.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
This course is intended for Project Engineers, Design Managers, Architects, Cost Estimators, and Value Managers.
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:
A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
