Project Scheduling and Cost Control
| 20 – 24 Apr. 2026, Dubai | 14 – 18 Sep. 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
The dynamic relationship between time and money is the core of project control, requiring an integrated approach to planning, monitoring, and corrective action. This course provides a comprehensive framework for Project Scheduling and Cost Control, focusing on the technical tools required to deliver projects within the baseline constraints. It addresses the strategic importance of "Baseline Integrity" and the use of integrated data to drive performance and predictable outcomes.
The scope of this training encompasses the application of the "Critical Path Method" (CPM), "Earned Value Management" (EVM), and "Trend Analysis" for cost and schedule. Participants will learn how to build robust "Work Breakdown Structures" (WBS), manage "Resource Loading," and execute "Schedule Compression" techniques when necessary. The course provides practical tools for calculating "Variances," forecasting "Estimate at Completion" (EAC), and managing "Project Change Control" to prevent scope creep.
Coverage includes the analysis of "S-Curves" and "Histograms," the implementation of "Performance Measurement Baselines" (PMB), and the execution of "Integrated Change Control." Attendees will explore the utilization of scheduling software features and learn how to communicate "Performance Metrics" effectively to diverse stakeholders. By mastering project scheduling and cost control, professionals will be able to maximize resource efficiency, minimize delays, and ensure the financial viability of their project portfolios.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
- Design an "Integrated Performance Measurement Baseline" (PMB).
- Build a "Deliverable-Oriented" Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
- Apply "Critical Path Method" (CPM) and "Network Diagrams."
- Execute "Resource Loading" and "Resource Leveling" strategies.
- Implement "Earned Value Management" (EVM) for project control.
- Calculate "Cost Variance" (CV) and "Schedule Variance" (SV).
- Interpret "CPI" and "SPI" to predict project completion dates.
- Forecast "Estimate at Completion" (EAC) using various methods.
- Utilize "S-Curves" for visual progress and trend analysis.
- Implement "Integrated Change Control" to manage project baselines.
- Execute "Schedule Crashing" and "Fast-Tracking" techniques.
- Develop professional "Project Performance Reports" for management.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
This course is intended for Project Controllers, Planners, Cost Engineers, Project Managers, and Financial Analysts.
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:
A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
