Project Life-Cycle Scheduling and Time Management in Oil and Gas Operations

08 – 12 June 2026, Dubai28 Sep. – 02 Oct. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

In the capital-intensive Oil and Gas sector, "Time" is the most critical variable affecting the Internal Rate of Return and overall project success. This course provides an advanced framework for the technical planning, scheduling, and control of complex upstream and downstream projects throughout their entire lifecycle. It focuses on the strategic integration of drilling, engineering, procurement, and construction schedules to ensure that "First Oil" or "Gas" is delivered according to the investment baseline.

The scope of this training encompasses the application of "Critical Path Method" (CPM), "PERT" analysis, and "Resource Leveling" within the unique constraints of the energy industry. Participants will learn how to manage the "Front-End Loading" (FEL) schedule, synchronize "Long-Lead Item" procurement with site readiness, and execute "Shutdown and Turnaround" (TAR) scheduling. The course addresses the complexities of "Weather Windows," "Rig Availability," and "Regulatory Approvals," providing practical tools for building resilient and realistic project baselines.

Coverage includes the analysis of "Schedule Risk" using "Monte Carlo" simulations, the implementation of "Earned Value Management" (EVM) for time-based performance, and the execution of "Schedule Recovery" plans. Attendees will explore the utilization of advanced software such as Oracle Primavera P6 and learn how to present "Executive Level" schedule reports to senior stakeholders. By mastering life-cycle scheduling, professionals will be able to minimize downtime, optimize resource utilization, and ensure the predictable delivery of Oil and Gas assets.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Design an integrated "Project Master Schedule" (PMS) for Oil and Gas.
  • Navigate the "FEL-1," "FEL-2," and "FEL-3" scheduling requirements.
  • Apply "Critical Path Method" (CPM) to complex offshore and onshore works.
  • Execute "Resource Leveling" for specialized labor and equipment.
  • Synchronize "Drilling and Completions" with "Facility Construction."
  • Manage "Long-Lead Item" (LLI) procurement within the schedule.
  • Conduct "Schedule Risk Analysis" using "Monte Carlo" simulations.
  • Implement "Earned Value Management" (EVM) for schedule control.
  • Develop "Shutdown and Turnaround" (TAR) schedules for existing assets.
  • Execute "Schedule Compression" and "Recovery Plans" safely.
  • Utilize advanced "Scheduling Software" features (P6/MSP).
  • Communicate schedule trends and "Critical Path" impacts to executives.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is intended for Project Planners, Scheduling Engineers, Project Managers, Operations Leads, and Senior Project Controllers in the Oil and Gas industry.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
