Procurement Essentials for Capital Projects
| 23 – 27 Mar. 2026, Cairo | 20 – 24 July 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
The acquisition of high-value equipment and services for capital projects requires a strategic approach that transcends simple purchasing transactions. This course provides a comprehensive framework for managing the complex procurement lifecycle within large-scale industrial and infrastructure developments. It focuses on the strategic importance of aligning procurement activities with the project master schedule to ensure that long-lead items are secured without compromising the project's critical path or financial integrity.
The scope of this training encompasses the development of robust procurement strategies, the navigation of global supply chain challenges, and the technical evaluation of complex vendor bids. Participants will learn how to draft precise "Request for Quotation" (RFQ) packages, implement rigorous vendor pre-qualification processes, and manage the logistics of international delivery. The course addresses the integration of procurement with engineering and construction, providing practical tools for managing the technical and commercial interfaces that often cause project delays.
Coverage includes the analysis of various contract types, the implementation of "Total Cost of Ownership" (TCO) principles, and the execution of effective negotiation strategies for high-stakes agreements. Attendees will explore the ethical dimensions of procurement, the utilization of digital e-procurement platforms, and the management of "Post-Award" vendor performance. By mastering these procurement essentials, professionals will be able to mitigate supply chain risks and contribute significantly to the overall success and profitability of capital projects.
