Practical Use Of The New FIDIC Conditions Of Contract
| 12 – 16 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi | 07 – 11 Dec. 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
The International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) provides the world's most widely used standard forms of contract for international construction and engineering projects. This course provides a high-level, practical framework for navigating the "New" FIDIC suite (specifically the 2017/2022 updates), focusing on the "Red," "Yellow," and "Silver" books. It emphasizes the strategic importance of understanding the balance of risk, the role of the "Engineer," and the rigorous "Claims" procedures that define the modern FIDIC environment.
The scope of this training encompasses the technical application of "General Conditions" and "Particular Conditions," the management of "Design Responsibility," and the execution of "Payment" and "Variation" protocols. Participants will learn how to utilize the "Early Warning" mechanisms, manage "Time-Bar" risks for claims, and navigate the "Dispute Avoidance/Adjudication Board" (DAAB) process. The course addresses the complexities of "Force Majeure" and "Termination," providing practical tools for contract administration in volatile international markets.
Coverage includes the analysis of "Employer’s Requirements," the implementation of "Performance Security" measures, and the management of "Defects Notification Periods." Attendees will explore the legal nuances of "Determinations" by the Engineer and learn how to structure "Notices" to protect their contractual position. By mastering the practical use of FIDIC contracts, professionals will be able to minimize litigation risk and ensure that complex construction projects are delivered with technical and legal clarity.
