Managing Projects Using Earned Value- Preparation For Earned Value Professional (EVP)

30 Mar. – 03 Apr. 2026, Dubai24 – 28 Aug. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

Earned Value Management (EVM) is the industry standard for integrating project scope, schedule, and cost to provide an objective assessment of project performance. This course provides a high-level, technical exploration of EVM principles, specifically designed to prepare professionals for the Earned Value Professional (EVP) certification. It focuses on the mathematical rigor and systemic discipline required to move beyond simple budget tracking toward predictive project control and forecasting.

The scope of this training encompasses the establishment of a "Performance Measurement Baseline" (PMB), the calculation of critical variances, and the interpretation of efficiency indices. Participants will learn how to utilize "Actual Cost of Work Performed" (ACWP) and "Planned Value" (PV) to derive the "Earned Value" (EV) and determine the project's "Estimate at Completion" (EAC). The course addresses the complexities of "Control Account" management and provides practical tools for reconciling EVM data with accounting and scheduling systems.

Coverage includes the analysis of "Schedule Performance Index" (SPI) and "Cost Performance Index" (CPI), the implementation of "To-Complete Performance Index" (TCPI) analysis, and the execution of "Integrated Baseline Reviews" (IBR). Attendees will explore the reporting requirements of AACE International and learn how to present EVM trends to executive leadership. By mastering Earned Value Management, professionals will be able to provide the technical foresight required to keep complex projects on track and secure the EVP designation.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Apply the 32 criteria of EIA-748 for Earned Value Management.
  • Establish a robust "Performance Measurement Baseline" (PMB).
  • Calculate and interpret PV, EV, and AC across Control Accounts.
  • Determine SV, CV, SPI, and CPI for performance trending.
  • Execute advanced "Estimate at Completion" (EAC) forecasting.
  • Utilize "To-Complete Performance Index" (TCPI) for recovery planning.
  • Conduct formal "Integrated Baseline Reviews" (IBR).
  • Reconcile EVM data with the "Work Breakdown Structure" (WBS).
  • Perform "Variance Analysis" and draft effective "Variance Reports."
  • Manage "Change Control" and its impact on the project baseline.
  • Analyze "Schedule Variance" in units of time (Earned Schedule).
  • Prepare for the AACE International EVP Certification examination.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is intended for Project Controls Professionals, Cost Engineers, Planning Managers, Senior Project Managers, and aspiring EVP candidates.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
