Earned Value Management For Project Performance Measurement
| 12 – 16 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi | 02 – 06 Nov. 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
Earned Value Management (EVM) is the global standard for objective project performance measurement, providing a powerful integration of scope, schedule, and cost. This course provides a comprehensive exploration of EVM methodologies, moving beyond basic math to focus on the strategic insights that EVM provides to project leaders. It emphasizes the utilization of EVM as an early-warning system that identifies project variances before they become insurmountable crises.
The scope of this training encompasses the entire EVM lifecycle, from the establishment of the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB) to the generation of sophisticated "Estimate at Completion" (EAC) forecasts. Participants will learn how to structure the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Accounts to facilitate accurate data collection and analysis. The course addresses the complexities of "Resource Loading" schedules and provides practical tools for calculating the Cost Performance Index (CPI) and Schedule Performance Index (SPI).
Coverage includes the analysis of the "To-Complete Performance Index" (TCPI), the management of management reserves and contingencies, and the implementation of EVM in "Agile" and "Hybrid" project environments. Attendees will learn how to design effective EVM reports and dashboards that communicate project health clearly to executive stakeholders. By mastering EVM, professionals will be able to drive a data-driven project culture that ensures predictability and performance excellence.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
- Design robust Earned Value Management (EVM) systems for projects.
- Establish the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB) using WBS and CBS.
- Integrate project scope, schedule, and cost into a unified baseline.
- Calculate core EVM metrics: Planned Value, Earned Value, and Actual Cost.
- Analyze Cost and Schedule Variances (CV and SV) to identify root causes.
- Utilize CPI and SPI to benchmark project performance and efficiency.
- Develop reliable "Estimate at Completion" (EAC) and "Estimate to Complete" (ETC).
- Utilize the TCPI to determine the required future performance level.
- Manage Management Reserves and Contingencies within the EVM framework.
- Design effective EVM reports and dashboards for diverse stakeholders.
- Implement EVM in various project environments (Fixed Price vs. Cost Plus).
- Execute post-project performance audits and capture lessons learned.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
This course is intended for Project Managers, Project Controllers, Planning Engineers, Cost Engineers, and Financial Managers responsible for project oversight.
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:
A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
