Safety Passport for Operators

15 – 19 June 2026, Abu Dhabi05 – 09 Oct. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

This course provides operators with a structured “safety passport” foundation, giving them the knowledge and awareness needed to perform their duties safely in oil and gas and related process industries. It focuses on understanding the usual risks in the oil industry, the main prevention approaches, and the practical application of safety management practices at the workplace level.

Participants will explore plant operation and safety principles, product related risks such as flammability, fluid behaviors, and physical hazards involving personnel. The course also addresses equipment related risks, work permit systems, emergency plans, gas testing, occupational health, entry into confined spaces, environmental issues, risk assessment, hazard analysis in design and operations, and safety management. The aim is to strengthen operators’ safety mindset and ensure they understand their responsibilities as front line guardians of plant safety.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the main types of risks present in oil and gas and process plant operations.
  2. Describe the relationship between safe plant operation, process conditions, and operator responsibilities.
  3. Identify product related risks including flammability, fluid behaviors, toxicity, and physical hazards to personnel.
  4. Recognize equipment related risks associated with pressure systems, rotating equipment, lifting devices, and other common plant equipment.
  5. Explain the purpose and key elements of work permit systems and their role in controlling high risk activities.
  6. Describe the essential components of emergency plans and the role of operators during emergency situations.
  7. Understand the principles of gas testing, safe atmospheric conditions, and correct use of gas testing equipment.
  8. Explain the main occupational health risks in oil and gas operations and basic measures to control them.
  9. Understand the requirements and safe practices for entry into confined spaces.
  10. Identify key environmental issues associated with plant operation and basic controls to minimize environmental impact.
  11. Apply fundamental risk assessment concepts and participate in hazard analysis in design and operations.
  12. Describe the basic components of safety management systems and the operator’s role in maintaining and improving safety performance.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

-Operators working in oil and gas production, refining, and petrochemical plants

-Field operators in process, utility, and storage areas

-Control room operators who need stronger grounding in safety fundamentals

-Junior technicians and plant assistants who support operational activities

-Any front-line personnel requiring a structured “safety passport” orientation

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive but practical and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and after the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
