Product Storage, Loading and Transport (Crude Oil)
| 09 – 13 Feb. 2026, Dubai | 13 – 17 July 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
This comprehensive course, focusing on Product Storage, Loading and Transport (Crude Oil) - Basics, delves deep into the fundamental requirements for designing and operating crude oil storage, loading, and transport facilities. Participants will understand the basic design considerations for crude oil tanks and tank farms, loading and unloading systems, and transport interfaces with pipelines, marine facilities, and road transport. The course explains how storage and loading systems support production, export, and supply chain requirements, while maintaining safety, environmental compliance, measurement accuracy, and product integrity.
Key topics include crude oil characteristics affecting storage and transport, tank types and basic design concepts, tank farm layout, loading systems (marine, pipeline, and truck), custody transfer and measurement concepts at a basic level, and operational practices for safe, reliable, and efficient storage and movement of crude oil. Participants will engage in practical exercises and case studies to apply the concepts learned to simple storage and loading schemes and routine operating scenarios.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
- Describe the overall role of crude oil storage, loading, and transport in upstream and terminal operations.
- Explain basic Product Storage, Loading and Transport (Crude Oil) - Basics principles and terminology used in tank farms and export facilities.
- Identify the main types of crude oil storage tanks and explain their basic design features and operating considerations.
- Outline the key requirements for designing and operating tank farms, including spacing, containment, and drainage at a conceptual level.
- Describe the basic arrangements for loading and unloading crude oil to and from pipelines, marine facilities, and trucks.
- Understand introductory concepts of custody transfer and volume measurement related to crude oil storage and loading.
- Recognize key safety, health, and environmental considerations associated with crude oil storage and movement.
- Apply Product Storage, Loading and Transport (Crude Oil) - Basics techniques to simple design checks and day to day operating decisions.
- Identify common operating problems in storage and loading operations and relate them to underlying design or operating practices.
- Understand the latest trends and best practices in Product Storage, Loading and Transport (Crude Oil) - Basics, including improved measurement, automation, and safety practices.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
-Process Engineers
-Operations and Production Engineers
-Tank Farm, Terminal, and Export Operations Staff
-Field and Control Room Operators involved in storage and loading activities
-Facilities and Project Engineers supporting crude oil storage and export projects
-Maintenance and Technical Support Staff working around tanks, loading, and transport systems
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:
A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive but practical and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and after the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
