Product Blending and Acidification

12 – 16 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi07 – 11 Dec. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

This comprehensive course, focusing on Product Blending and Acidification - Basics, delves deep into the fundamental concepts and practical steps involved in blending petrochemical products to meet defined product specifications using predefined blend recipes and operating procedures. Participants will learn how different blend components contribute to final product properties, how basic blending rules work, and how acidification is used to adjust pH or acidity for product stability, handling, or downstream processing.

The course introduces common blending arrangements in tanks and in line systems, the role of sampling and laboratory analysis, and the importance of correct line up, sequencing, and documentation. Participants will engage in practical exercises and case studies to apply the concepts learned, including simple blend planning, checking whether a blend meets specification, and understanding how acid addition changes product characteristics within safe limits.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the basic purpose of Product Blending and Acidification - Basics in petrochemical and related operations.
  2. Explain in simple terms how petrochemical products are blended to achieve defined product specifications using blend recipes.
  3. Identify common product properties affected by blending and acidification, such as density, viscosity, sulphur, vapor pressure, and pH.
  4. Distinguish between different basic blending methods (tank blending and in line blending) and understand where each is used.
  5. Perform simple, non-rigorous blend checks using component properties and blend proportions with the aid of tables or spreadsheets.
  6. Explain the basic concept of acidity and pH, and how acidification is used to adjust these within target limits.
  7. Recognize the key steps in preparing, executing, and completing a blend, including line up checks, sampling, and quality confirmation.
  8. Identify basic safety and handling requirements for acids and additives used in Product Blending and Acidification - Basics.
  9. Support troubleshooting of common blending issues such as off specification product, stratification, and incomplete mixing at a basic level.
  10. Understand the latest trends and best practices in Product Blending and Acidification - Basics as they relate to simple automation, on line measurements, and documentation.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

-Process Engineers

-Operations Engineers

-Panel and Field Operators involved in blending activities

-Petrochemical and terminal operations staff

-Quality and laboratory liaison personnel

-New joiners to blending, tank farm, or product handling operations

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive but practical and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and after the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
