Process Data gathering, Analysis and Reporting

05 – 09 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi26 – 30 Oct. 2026, Dubai

COURSE OVERVIEW:

This course provides a comprehensive and practical understanding of process data gathering, analysis and reporting in modern industrial facilities. Participants will explore what data collection is, the steps and methodology of data collection, and the various sources of process data within DCS and associated systems. The course covers process flow diagrams (PFD), DCS trends, event logs, daily reports, process performance indicators, mass and energy balance concepts, and the role of process historians.

In addition, the course reviews operator interface functions and standards, HMI types, characteristics and configuration, HMI screen types and testing considerations. Data management topics will include historical data collection, storage, display and compression concepts, enabling participants to transform raw plant data into meaningful operational information for decision making and performance improvement.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the basic requirements, concepts and terminology of process data gathering, collection and reporting.
  2. Describe the main steps and methodology of process data collection from field instruments, control systems and other sources.
  3. Identify and classify the different sources of process data, including DCS, HMI, process historian, PFDs, logs and reports.
  4. Interpret and utilize process flow diagrams (PFD) to understand where and how data is generated in the process.
  5. Explain the functions, standards and configurations of operator interfaces, including DCS consoles and HMI systems.
  6. Analyze and use trends, event logs and historical data to monitor process performance and detect abnormalities.
  7. Apply basic mass balance and energy balance concepts for performance monitoring and reconciliation of process data.
  8. Prepare, review and improve daily reports and performance reports to support operating decisions and management communication.
  9. Recognize key data management practices related to historical data storage, retrieval, display and compression.
  10. Use process historian and related software tools to extract, analyze and present process data for optimization and troubleshooting.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

-Control room operators

-Field operators and panel operators

-Junior process engineers supporting operations

-Production and operations supervisors

-Process data and reporting coordinators

-Any technical staff involved in monitoring, analyzing or reporting process operating data

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive but practical and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and after the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
