Petrochemical Plant Operations for Operator

01 – 05 June 2026, Abu Dhabi24 – 28 Aug. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of petrochemical plant operations, focusing on the production, handling, and processing of polyethylene and polypropylene. It introduces operators to the core processes, equipment, and systems used in petrochemical facilities from raw material purification to product packaging and storage.

Participants will develop a practical understanding of how petrochemical units operate, including polymerization reactions, catalyst handling, process control, and product quality monitoring. The training emphasizes the role of control room and field operators in ensuring plant safety, efficiency, and product consistency, while adhering to environmental and operational standards.

Through a combination of technical sessions and real-world examples, the course aims to strengthen participants’ operational knowledge and prepare them for the challenges of day-to-day petrochemical plant operations.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

After completion of the course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the fundamentals of petrochemical plant operations and process flow.
  2. Gain knowledge of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) production systems and their industrial significance.
  3. Describe the polymerization process, including catalyst types and reaction control.
  4. Understand the function of raw material purification systems, including feed preparation and contamination control.
  5. Learn the operation and maintenance of product handling and blending systems.
  6. Gain knowledge of final product packaging, storage, and distribution procedures.
  7. Identify key control parameters (temperature, pressure, flow, composition) and their effects on product quality.
  8. Recognize common operational challenges and apply appropriate troubleshooting techniques.
  9. Ensure safe operations and adherence to HSE procedures in all petrochemical processing areas.
  10. Coordinate effectively between field and control room operations for continuous, safe, and efficient plant performance.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY

A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive but practical and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and after the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
