COURSE OVERVIEW:
This comprehensive course, focusing on Petrochemical Asset Knowledge - Basics, provides a structured introduction to the petrochemical industry, its assets, and how these assets create value. It is designed for engineers and operational staff who require a foundational understanding of petrochemical plants, major process units, equipment, and supporting systems.
The course explains the petrochemical value chain from feedstocks to final products, outlines the types of assets used in petrochemical complexes, and highlights key concepts related to operations, reliability, safety, and economics. Participants will engage in practical exercises and case studies to apply the concepts learned and to better understand how their roles support safe, reliable, and profitable asset performance.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of the course, the participants will be able to:
- Describe the structure of the petrochemical industry and the main stages of the petrochemical value chain.
- Identify the main types of petrochemical assets (plants, units, equipment, and infrastructure) and their roles.
- Explain the basic principles of major petrochemical processes and how they transform feedstocks into products.
- Recognize the key equipment and utility systems commonly found in petrochemical plants.
- Understand fundamental concepts of asset lifecycle, maintenance, and reliability for petrochemical facilities.
- Describe essential health, safety, and environmental requirements for petrochemical operations.
- Relate production, logistics, and supply chain activities to overall asset performance.
- Interpret basic economic and performance indicators used to assess petrochemical asset effectiveness.
- Appreciate the role of digital tools and asset information in supporting operations and decision making.
