Oil Water Treatment Technology

09 – 13 Feb. 2026, Abu Dhabi07 – 11 Dec. 2026, Dubai

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The course will help the participants learn the details of the impact of effective oilfield water chemistry and how to assess oilfield production liquid separation principles. It provides a practical overview of oilfield water chemistry, test methods for oil and grease in water, zero liquid discharge (ZLD) concepts, crude oil desalting, and the separation and treatment of oilfield production liquids. Emphasis is placed on understanding how water chemistry affects corrosion, scaling, emulsions, separation performance, and environmental compliance, as well as how operations personnel can monitor, interpret, and optimize treatment systems in the field.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the basics of oilfield water chemistry and how different ions and contaminants influence corrosion, scaling, and separation behavior.
  2. Describe the main types and sources of oilfield waters, including produced water and injection water, and their typical characteristics.
  3. Identify and describe common test methods for oil and grease in water and interpret their results from an operations perspective.
  4. Explain the concept of zero liquid discharge (ZLD) and its implications for design, operation, and environmental performance of water treatment systems.
  5. Describe the principles of oilfield production liquid separation, including gravity separation, coalescence, and multi-phase separation.
  6. Explain the role of crude oil desalting as part of overall oil and water treatment and its interaction with upstream and downstream units.
  7. Describe key separation and treatment technologies used for oilfield water and production liquids at a conceptual level.
  8. Recognize the operational impact of poor water treatment on equipment reliability, product quality, and environmental compliance.
  9. Monitor key process and quality parameters related to oil water treatment and support basic troubleshooting of separation and treatment issues.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

-Operations professionals working in production, processing, and utilities

-Field and panel operators dealing with oil, gas, and water separation systems

-Operations engineers supporting produced water and injection water systems

-Production and process technicians involved in separation and treatment facilities

-HSE and environmental staff who need an operational understanding of oil water treatment

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive but practical and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and after the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
