Oil Receiving and Separation for Operator

12 – 16 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi02 – 06 Nov. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of oil receiving and separation processes within oil production facilities. It focuses on the operation, control, and optimization of separation systems, including pipeline pigging and crude oil treatment processes.

Participants will explore the full sequence of oil production from wellhead to separation, covering phase separation, dehydration, and desalting as well as pipeline operations and maintenance activities. The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical field-based examples, enabling operators to handle daily operational challenges effectively while maintaining safe and reliable production operations.

By completing this training, participants will enhance their ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and control surface treatment processes, ensuring compliance with crude oil sales specifications and HSE best practices.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

After completion of the course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the theory of crude oil production and surface treatment systems.
  2. Gain a practical understanding of field treating facilities and their operating principles.
  3. Learn the oil receiving process and identify critical control points during transfer and separation.
  4. Explain the design and operation of separation systems, including two-phase and three-phase separators.
  5. Recognize crude oil specifications and quality parameters required for sales and export.
  6. Understand pipeline operations, including types, configurations, and operational controls.
  7. Learn the principles and procedures of pipeline pigging, including preparation, execution, and troubleshooting.
  8. Identify and manage common process upsets and malfunction scenarios during oil separation and pigging.
  9. Apply safe operating practices and emergency procedures in oil receiving and separation operations.
  10. Develop decision-making skills for field and control room coordination during daily operations and maintenance activities.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY

A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive but practical and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and after the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:
