Mastering Boiler Control Packages: Operations and Maintenance Training

27 Apr. – 01 May 2026, Abu Dhabi24 – 28 Aug. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

This training course aims to provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to effectively operate, monitor, and troubleshoot boiler control packages, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of utility and power systems. The course covers the fundamental principles of boiler control, key hardware and software components, essential control parameters, and typical control philosophies used in modern boiler systems. Participants will learn how to maintain control parameters within optimal ranges, apply advanced control modes and strategies based on system requirements, and understand the interaction between combustion control, feedwater control, drum level control, and protection systems. Practical examples, case studies, and discussions will help participants link the control concepts to real plant situations.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the fundamental principles of boiler control package operation, including key components and main control parameters.
  2. Describe the overall architecture of boiler control packages and the interaction between combustion control, feedwater control, and steam pressure control.
  3. Gain proficiency in monitoring and maintaining boiler control parameters within optimal ranges to ensure safe and efficient boiler performance.
  4. Explain the role of instrumentation, transmitters, control valves, and logic in boiler control systems.
  5. Learn advanced control modes and strategies for optimizing boiler operations based on system requirements and load changes.
  6. Interpret trends, alarms, and basic logic diagrams associated with boiler control packages.
  7. Identify early warning signs of control-related problems and apply structured troubleshooting approaches.
  8. Coordinate effectively with maintenance teams in planning and supporting maintenance activities related to boiler control equipment.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

-Operations engineers

-Maintenance technicians

-Utility system operators

-Power plant personnel

-Technical staff involved in boiler and utility system monitoring

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive but practical and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and after the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
