Hydrocracking Process Technology

27 Apr. – 01 May 2026, Abu Dhabi21 – 25 Sep. 2026, Dubai

COURSE OVERVIEW:

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to hydrocracking process technology, with a focus on its role and significance in modern refineries. Participants will gain an understanding of hydrocracking fundamentals, unit configuration, catalysts, operating parameters, and typical operating challenges. Practical emphasis will be placed on safe operation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of hydrocracking units.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the basic principles of hydrocracking and its importance in refinery operations.
  2. Describe typical hydrocracking unit configurations, process flow schemes, and their integration with other refinery units.
  3. Identify the main types of hydrocracking catalysts, their functions, and key factors affecting catalyst performance and life.
  4. Interpret and control key operating parameters (temperature, pressure, space velocity, hydrogen partial pressure, etc.) and their impact on product quality and yield.
  5. Outline best practices for catalyst activation, sulfiding, unit startup, normal operation, shutdown, and regeneration.
  6. Apply a structured approach to troubleshooting common hydrocracking operating problems and upsets using real case examples.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

-Operations professionals

-Panel and field operators

-Process and production engineers

-Shift supervisors and junior operations leaders

-Technical support staff and fresh engineers

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive but practical and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and after the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
