Gas Conditioning and Processing for Operators

18 – 22 May 2026, Abu Dhabi14 – 18 Sep. 2026, Dubai

COURSE OVERVIEW:

This course will help the participants understand the fundamentals and practical aspects of gas conditioning and processing as applied in oil and gas production and gas plants. It covers the key unit operations required to prepare natural gas for transportation and use, including turbo expansion, gas sweetening and sulfur recovery, gas dehydration, gas fractionation, and natural gas liquids (NGL) recovery schemes. The course also emphasizes typical operating problems, their causes, and systematic troubleshooting using practical case studies from real plant experience. By the end of the course, participants will be able to link process principles with day-to-day operating decisions in gas conditioning and processing facilities.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the role and objectives of gas conditioning and processing in natural gas production and transmission.
  2. Describe the turbo expansion process and its application in NGL recovery and low temperature gas processing.
  3. Understand the detailed processes used for gas sweetening and sulfur recovery, including key equipment and operating parameters.
  4. Compare and explain different methods of gas dehydration and their typical applications and limitations.
  5. Describe the principles of gas fractionation and the operation of fractionation columns in NGL recovery.
  6. Identify and compare different process schemes used for NGL recovery and their impact on product recovery and energy consumption.
  7. Recognize common operating problems encountered in gas conditioning and processing units.
  8. Apply a structured approach to troubleshooting gas conditioning and processing systems using practical case examples.
  9. Interpret key operating data and process trends to detect abnormalities and support stable, efficient operation.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

-Operations professionals working in gas plants and gas processing facilities

-Process and production operators involved in gas treatment and NGL recovery

-Control room operators responsible for gas conditioning and NGL units

-Field operators working on gas sweetening, dehydration, and fractionation units

-Maintenance and reliability personnel supporting gas processing equipment

-Technical staff and new graduates seeking a deeper understanding of gas conditioning and processing

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive but practical and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and after the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
