Extraction Systems Design
| 11 – 15 May 2026, Sharm El Shaikh | 05 – 09 Oct. 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
This comprehensive course on Extraction Systems Design focuses on interpreting, reviewing and enhancing design specifications for industrial extraction and ventilation systems. Participants will examine how to design effective systems to control dust, fumes, vapors and gases, ensuring compliance with safety, health and environmental requirements. The course covers hood design, duct sizing, fan selection, pressure loss calculations, filtration choices and system balancing. Emphasis is placed on identifying design deficiencies, assessing existing systems and developing practical improvement solutions. Participants will engage in practical exercises and case studies to apply design concepts to real industrial scenarios.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
- Explain the key principles and terminology of extraction systems design and their application in industrial environments.
- Interpret and review extraction system design documentation, including drawings, specifications and calculations.
- Apply practical methods for designing hoods, ducts, fans and filters to achieve required capture and transport performance.
- Perform basic pressure loss and fan sizing calculations to verify and optimize extraction system designs.
- Identify common design deficiencies and propose effective modifications and upgrades to existing systems.
- Understand relevant standards, guidelines and best practices related to extraction systems design, safety and environmental control.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
-Mechanical and process engineers involved in utilities, ventilation or environmental systems
-Design and project engineers responsible for extraction and ventilation projects
-Operations engineers and supervisors seeking to understand and evaluate extraction system designs
-HSE and industrial hygiene professionals working with engineering teams on contaminant control
-Maintenance and reliability engineers supporting critical extraction equipment and systems
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:
A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive but practical and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and after the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
