Creating P&IDs with Smart Plant
| 12 – 16 Jan. 2026, Dubai | 05 – 09 Oct. 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
The course will help participants learn how to use the SmartPlant P&ID application to efficiently create, edit, and manage piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs) in an integrated engineering environment. The course explains how to place and manage equipment, piping, instruments, and labels, how to work with assemblies and catalog data, and how to use SmartPlant tools such as Filters, Stockpile, and the Properties Grid to speed up design work. Participants will also learn how to manipulate graphics, manage engineering data, check design and data consistency, and generate deliverables such as drawings, reports, and lists in line with project standards and procedures.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of the course, the participants will be able to:
- Explain the SmartPlant P&ID interface, project structure, and main configuration concepts.
- Create and modify PIDs by placing equipment, piping, instruments, and auxiliary components according to project standards.
- Use labels, assemblies, and catalog items to standardize and accelerate PID creation.
- Organize and customize Catalog Explorer to quickly find and reuse design objects.
- Apply Filters, Stockpile, and the Properties Grid to manage large drawings and repetitive design tasks efficiently.
- Manipulate graphics to ensure clear, readable, and standard compliant PID layouts.
- Work effectively with the Engineering Data Editor to view, validate, and maintain engineering data associated with PID objects.
- Run design and data consistency checks to identify and correct errors and discrepancies.
- Generate and format drawings, reports, line lists, and instrument lists for project documentation and handover.
- Use piping specifications to ensure that linework and components conform to project and corporate standards.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
-Process, mechanical, and piping engineers using SmartPlant P&ID.
-Design engineers and CAD designers responsible for producing PIDs.
-Lead designers and discipline coordinators managing PID deliverables.
-Engineering data coordinators and document controllers are involved in SmartPlant data management.
-Supervisors and project engineers need to review and comment on SmartPlant P&ID drawings and reports.
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:
A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive but practical and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material through PowerPoint equipped with necessary animation, learning videos, and general discussions will be provided.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
