Cooling and Water Systems Management

05 – 09 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi28 Sep. – 02 Oct. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and manage cooling water systems, as well as utility and potable water systems in industrial and commercial facilities. It covers the complete lifecycle of these systems, including normal operation, startup and shutdown procedures, water quality control, chemical treatment, mechanical equipment performance, and interpretation of system logics and control philosophies. Emphasis is placed on maintaining system reliability, energy efficiency, asset integrity, and compliance with HSE and water quality requirements.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the function and configuration of cooling water, utility water, and potable water systems within industrial and building facilities.
  2. Describe the main equipment used in cooling and water systems (pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, storage tanks, distribution networks, and treatment units).
  3. Apply correct startup and shutdown procedures for cooling and water systems in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  4. Interpret system logics, control philosophies, and cause and effect diagrams related to cooling water and water distribution systems.
  5. Identify common operational problems (flow, pressure, temperature, fouling, leaks, poor water quality) and apply structured troubleshooting techniques.
  6. Understand the principles of water quality and chemical treatment for corrosion control, scaling prevention, and microbiological control in cooling and potable water systems.
  7. Monitor key operating parameters and use trends, alarms, and field data to optimize system performance and reliability.
  8. Evaluate the impact of operating conditions and water quality on energy consumption, equipment integrity, and system lifecycle costs.
  9. Implement safe work practices and HSE measures for operation, inspection, and maintenance of cooling water, utility water, and potable water systems.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

-Operations engineers

-Maintenance technicians and mechanical or electrical technicians

-Facility managers and building services supervisors

-Utility operators and plant operations staff

-Water treatment plant operators

-Any technical personnel involved in the operation or support of cooling and water systems

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive but practical and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material through PowerPoint equipped with necessary animation, learning videos, and general discussions will be provided.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
