Aspen Operations Reconciliation and Accounting (AORA)

26 – 30 Jan. 2026, Dubai21 – 25 Dec. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

Aspen Operations Reconciliation and Accounting (AORA) is used to reconcile refinery and plant production data (from mass balances and simulations) with plant accounting data. This course will enable participants to configure and use an AORA model to store, retain history, and present operations accounting information, as well as supervise and maintain an AORA system. The course focuses on building and maintaining AORA networks, managing data interfaces, performing reconciliations, configuring production and yield accounting, generating reports, and applying troubleshooting techniques to improve reliability and productivity.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the role of Aspen AORA in production, yield, and operations accounting within refinery and process plant environments.
  2. Maximize the value of AORA by understanding and appropriately utilizing key features and options.
  3. Configure and maintain AORA data structures, including units, streams, tanks, and networks, to reflect plant topology.
  4. Set up and manage data acquisition from plant information systems and accounting sources and validate data for reconciliation.
  5. Execute reconciliation runs, interpret reconciliation results, and adjust models and constraints to improve data quality.
  6. Configure production, yield, and loss accounting logic to meet business and reporting requirements.
  7. Modify AORA configuration to meet evolving operational and business needs while preserving data integrity and history.
  8. Identify key performance indicators related to AORA system health and reconciliation quality.
  9. Apply practical troubleshooting techniques to resolve common configuration, data, and runtime issues in AORA.
  10. Provide more effective on site support for AORA users, reducing downtime and enhancing system reliability.
  11. Prepare and deliver standard and ad hoc reports from AORA for operations, planning, and accounting stakeholders.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

-Yield accountants and production accounting personnel

-Yield analysis and operations accounting team members

-System integrators and prospective system integrators working with Aspen systems

-Engineers and specialists evaluating, implementing, or supporting an AORA system

-Operations and planning professionals who rely on reconciled data for decision making

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive but practical and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material through PowerPoint equipped with necessary animation, learning videos, and general discussions will be provided.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and after the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:
