Air Emissions Monitoring and Control in Process Plants
| 27 Apr. – 01 May 2026, Abu Dhabi | 21 – 25 Sep. 2026, Dubai |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
The course will provide the participants with essential knowledge on air emissions, their causes, sources, and associated health, safety, and environmental hazards. It will explain the difference between criteria air pollutants and non-criteria air pollutants, with practical examples relevant to industrial facilities.
Participants will also gain an understanding of engineering and operational controls used to minimize and manage air emissions, including process controls, abatement equipment, and good operating practices. The course will link technical concepts to day-to-day responsibilities of operations and HSE professionals, helping them support compliance and continuous improvement in air quality performance.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
-Describe what air emissions are and explain their main sources in industrial and non-industrial environments.
-Explain the negative effects of air emissions on human health, equipment, and the environment.
-Distinguish between criteria air pollutants and non-criteria air pollutants and identify examples of each.
-Recognize typical air emission sources in oil, gas, petrochemical, power, and related industrial operations.
-Identify the basic principles behind engineering controls used to prevent, reduce, or treat air emissions.
-Describe common emission control technologies such as filters, scrubbers, cyclones, and thermal systems.
-Explain how operating practices, maintenance, and housekeeping can influence air emission levels.
-Recognize the role of monitoring and simple indicators that can signal abnormal emission conditions.
-Identify the responsibilities of operations and HSE personnel in managing air emission risks.
-Contribute to practical discussions on emission reduction opportunities and improvement initiatives in their own facilities.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
-Operations professionals working in industrial plants producing air emissions
-HSE professionals responsible for environmental and occupational health programs
-Supervisors and team leaders in production, utilities, and maintenance departments
-Environmental coordinators and technicians supporting air quality control activities
-New HSE and operations staff require a structured introduction to air emissions and their hazards
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:
A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive but practical and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material through PowerPoint equipped with necessary animation, learning videos, and general discussions will be provided.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and after the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants who complete at least 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
