Ship Shore Safety Checklist (ISGOTT Ver 6) Application and Compliance
| 29 June – 03 July 2026, Dubai | 19 – 23 Oct. 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
Ship Shore Safety Checklist (ISGOTT Ver 6) Application and Compliance is a technical program focused on the critical safety interface between tankers and oil terminals. This course examines the standardized requirements of the 6th edition of the "International Safety Guide for Oil Tankers and Terminals" (ISGOTT). It provides a structured framework for the completion of the "Ship/Shore Safety Checklist" (SSSCL), ensuring that all parties involved in the transfer of petroleum products are aligned on safety barriers and operational limits.
The scope of this training involves the mastery of the new, multi-part checklist structure introduced in Version 6, which covers pre-arrival, post-berthing, and pre-transfer phases. Participants will explore the mechanics of "Static Electricity" prevention, the monitoring of "Inert Gas" (IG) systems, and the technical requirements for "Mooring Integrity." The program emphasizes the collaborative nature of the safety check, focusing on the joint responsibility of the ship's officers and the terminal representatives.
Coverage includes the updated guidelines on "Human Factors," "Toxic Hazards" like $H_2S$, and the integration of digital checklists in modern terminal operations. The course addresses the nuances of "Emergency Shutdown" (ESD) testing, "Vapor Recovery Systems" (VRS), and the prevention of cargo overflows. By focusing on industry-standard compliance, this course equips maritime and terminal professionals with the expertise needed to conduct hazardous cargo transfers with zero incidents.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
- Identify the primary structural changes in ISGOTT Version 6.
- Utilize the "Ship/Shore Safety Checklist" (SSSCL) according to the new 4-part format.
- Align "Shipboard Procedures" with "Terminal Operating Manuals" effectively.
- Execute "Pre-Arrival" communications to establish safety parameters.
- Conduct "Physical Inspections" of manifolds, loading arms, and hoses.
- Manage "Mooring Tension" and "Snap-back" zones during transfer operations.
- Implement "Static Electricity" precautions including flow rate limits.
- Monitor "Tank Atmosphere" and "Inert Gas" (IG) quality throughout.
- Execute "Emergency Shutdown" (ESD) tests between ship and shore.
- Manage "Toxic Gas" hazards including benzene and hydrogen sulfide.
- Apply "Human Factors" principles to the checklist verification process.
- Audit the checklist for "Repetitive Checks" and documentation compliance.
- Lead the "Safety Meeting" to ensure mutual understanding of transfer limits.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
Chief Officers, Pumpmen, Loading Masters, Terminal Operators, and Marine Superintendents.
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:
A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
