Ship Chartering, Laytime and Demurrage Masterclass

02 – 06 Feb. 2026, Abu Dhabi03 – 07 Aug. 2026, Cairo

COURSE OVERVIEW:

Ship Chartering, Laytime and Demurrage Masterclass is a strategic commercial program designed to navigate the complexities of maritime contracts and voyage economics. This course examines the legal and financial frameworks of Voyage, Time, and Bareboat charters, focusing on the allocation of risk and responsibility between "Owners" and "Charterers." It provides a technical analysis of how time is measured and monetized in the global shipping industry.

The scope of this training involves the mastery of "Charter Party" (CP) clauses, including Gencon, Asbatankvoy, and NYPE forms. Participants will explore the mechanics of "Laytime" calculation, differentiating between "Working Days," "Weather Permitting," and "SHINC/SHEX" terms. The program emphasizes the role of "Notice of Readiness" (NOR) and the precise moment when the "Clock Starts" for demurrage claims.

Coverage includes the legalities of "Deadfreight," "Despatch," and the resolution of maritime disputes through arbitration. The course addresses the nuances of "Lien" on cargo, "Off-hire" periods in time charters, and the financial impact of port delays. By focusing on both contract law and practical arithmetic, this course equips commercial maritime professionals with the expertise needed to maximize profitability and minimize costly legal exposure.
