COURSE OVERVIEW:
Port Management Essentials is a foundational program designed to provide a 360-degree view of the administrative and operational pillars of a modern maritime gateway. This course examines the evolution of port governance models, ranging from "Landlord" to "Fully Privatized" structures, and their impact on national economic development. It provides a technical framework for understanding how ports function as critical nodes in the global supply chain, balancing the needs of ship owners, cargo interests, and inland transport providers.
The scope of this training involves the exploration of port economics, including tariff structures, concession agreements, and investment strategies for infrastructure expansion. Participants will explore the mechanics of "Port Community Systems" (PCS), digitalization, and the integration of "Green Port" initiatives to meet international environmental standards. The program emphasizes the strategic importance of "Connectivity," focusing on how hinterland links and maritime accessibility define a port's competitive advantage.
Coverage includes the legal and regulatory frameworks mandated by the IMO and local maritime authorities, as well as the management of human resources in a labor-intensive industry. The course addresses the nuances of "Strategic Planning" and "Risk Management" in the face of shifting global trade patterns and technological disruptions.
