LNG Terminal Operation and Management

08 – 12 June 2026, Abu Dhabi26 – 30 Oct. 2026, Sharm El Shaikh

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The LNG Terminal Operation and Management course is a comprehensive program designed to address the sophisticated technical and managerial requirements of modern liquefied natural gas facilities. This course examines the entire value chain within the terminal fence, from the initial berthing of cryogenic vessels to the regasification and distribution of natural gas into high-pressure pipelines. It provides a deep dive into the thermodynamic principles governing LNG storage and the mechanical complexities of the infrastructure required to maintain products at extremely low temperatures.

The scope of this training involves a detailed analysis of both import and export terminal configurations, focusing on the critical systems that ensure operational continuity and safety. Participants will explore the mechanics of cryogenic heat exchangers, the logic of integrated control systems, and the rigorous maintenance schedules required for high-capacity pumping stations. The program emphasizes the importance of asset integrity and the implementation of international best practices to mitigate the risks associated with large-scale hazardous energy storage.

Coverage includes the commercial and regulatory aspects of terminal management, including terminal use agreements, custody transfer measurement systems, and environmental compliance. The course addresses the strategic coordination between ship and shore, ensuring that loading and unloading operations are synchronized to minimize vessel turnaround time. By blending engineering theory with practical management strategies, this course equips professionals with the expertise needed to lead complex LNG terminal organizations in a competitive global market.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

1.  Explain the fundamental design principles of LNG liquefaction and regasification terminals.

2.  Manage the technical challenges associated with cryogenic storage and boiling liquid behavior.

3.  Implement comprehensive asset integrity programs for terminal infrastructure and equipment.

4.  Oversee the safe execution of ship-to-shore LNG transfer operations in accordance with SIGTTO.

5.  Utilize advanced custody transfer measurement systems for accurate energy billing and reporting.

6.  Develop robust emergency response plans specifically tailored for LNG release scenarios.

7.  Coordinate with maritime authorities for the safe navigation and berthing of LNG carriers.

8.  Optimize the efficiency of boil-off gas recovery systems to reduce operational losses.

9.  Evaluate the commercial implications of terminal use agreements and throughput contracts.

10.  Lead multi-disciplinary teams in the execution of planned maintenance and shutdowns.

11.  Ensure strict adherence to international safety standards, including ISGOTT and local regulations.

12.  Monitor environmental impact and implement decarbonization strategies for terminal operations.

13.  Conduct detailed risk assessments for non-routine maintenance activities in hazardous zones.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Terminal Managers, Operations Supervisors, Gas Engineers, Marine Superintendents, and Technical Directors within the LNG sector.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
