LNG Jetty and Tanker Operations (Level One Basic)

20 – 24 Apr. 2026, Dubai14 – 18 Sep. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The LNG Jetty and Tanker Operations (Level ONE Basic) course is an introductory program designed to provide a safe foundation for personnel starting their careers in the LNG sector. This course examines the fundamental physics of Liquefied Natural Gas and the specialized equipment used at the interface between the ship and the shore. It provides a clear understanding of the risks associated with cryogenic temperatures and the strict procedural discipline required to prevent accidents during cargo transfer.

The scope of this training involves the basic study of the LNG cargo cycle, including the "Warm" and "Cold" states of a tanker. Participants will explore the components of an LNG jetty, such as Marine Loading Arms (MLAs), fenders, and quick-release hooks. The program emphasizes the importance of the Ship/Shore Safety Checklist (SIGTTO version), the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for cryogenic hazards, and the role of the "Permit to Work" system in hazardous zones.

Coverage includes the basic principles of tank atmosphere control, the purpose of "Inerting" and "Aerating," and the initial response to LNG spills or leaks. The course addresses the communication protocols between the tanker and the terminal control room, ensuring that all participants understand the terminology used in the industry. By providing a comprehensive entry-level overview, this course equips junior staff and terminal operators with the essential knowledge to support safe LNG operations.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the physical properties of LNG and its hazards.
  2. Understand the LNG "Value Chain" from liquefaction to regasification.
  3. Identify the main components of an LNG jetty and tanker.
  4. Explain the purpose of the Ship/Shore Safety Checklist.
  5. Demonstrate the correct use of cryogenic Personal Protective Equipment.
  6. Understand the basic operation of Marine Loading Arms (MLAs).
  7. Explain the difference between "Inerting," "Purging," and "Cool-down."
  8. Identify "Hazardous Areas" and "Ex" equipment on the jetty.
  9. Describe the function of the Emergency Shutdown (ESD) system.
  10. Execute safe mooring and gangway monitoring procedures.
  11. Communicate effectively using standard LNG terminal terminology.
  12. Identify the signs of a cryogenic leak and the immediate actions required.
  13. Follow the "Permit to Work" and "Lock-out Tag-out" procedures.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Junior Terminal Operators, Deck Cadets, Jetty Assistants, Security Personnel, and Maintenance Technicians.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
