| 02 – 06 Feb. 2026, Abu Dhabi | 03 – 07 Aug. 2026, Cairo |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
The ISM Code Implementation for Shipping Companies course is a high-level management program designed to ensure the systematic safety of ship operations and pollution prevention. This course examines the International Safety Management (ISM) Code, which is a mandatory requirement under SOLAS. It provides a technical framework for shipping companies to develop, implement, and maintain an effective Safety Management System (SMS) that bridges the gap between shore-based management and shipboard execution.
The scope of this training involves the detailed analysis of the twelve elements of the ISM Code, focusing on the responsibility of the "Designated Person Ashore" (DPA) and the Master’s overriding authority. Participants will explore the process of creating functional documentation, including safety policies, operational manuals, and emergency procedures. The program emphasizes the importance of risk management, internal auditing, and the "Non-Conformance" reporting loop as tools for continuous organizational improvement.
Coverage includes the preparation for external audits by Flag States or Recognized Organizations to obtain the Document of Compliance (DOC) and the Safety Management Certificate (SMC). The course addresses the integration of safety culture into the corporate structure, ensuring that all personnel understand their roles in preventing maritime accidents. By providing a comprehensive guide to management system theory, this course equips shipping executives and safety officers with the expertise to run a compliant and resilient maritime operation.
