FPSO / FSRU Operation and Maintenance (Floating Production Storage and Offloading)

19 – 23 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi09 – 13 Nov. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The FPSO / FSRU Operation and Maintenance course is a comprehensive program designed for professionals managing the lifecycle of floating production and regasification units. This course examines the dual role of these vessels as both complex industrial process plants and large maritime hulls. It provides a detailed analysis of the transition from traditional offshore platforms to floating assets that can store and offload hydrocarbons directly to export tankers.

The scope of this training involves the operational management of the "Topside" process modules including oil/gas separation, water injection, and gas regasification—integrated with the "Marine" systems of the hull. Participants will explore the maintenance of turret mooring systems, subsea risers, and the cargo handling equipment required for safe storage and offloading. The program emphasizes the regulatory compliance required for "In-Class" operations and the safety management systems necessary for a high-hazard offshore environment.

Coverage includes the specific maintenance challenges of floating assets, such as hull fatigue, mooring line integrity, and the upkeep of cryogenic equipment on FSRUs. The course addresses the coordination of offloading operations (tandem or side-by-side) and the management of "Boil-off Gas" in regasification units. By integrating process engineering with marine management, this course equips personnel with the expertise to maintain the high availability and safety standards required for modern FPSO and FSRU operations.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Distinguish between the functional requirements of FPSO and FSRU units.
  2. Manage the interface between topside production and marine hull systems.
  3. Oversee oil, gas, and water separation processes in an offshore environment.
  4. Execute safe cargo storage and offloading procedures to export tankers.
  5. Monitor and maintain turret mooring and spread mooring systems.
  6. Manage regasification operations and BOG systems on FSRU units.
  7. Implement maintenance protocols for subsea risers and flowlines.
  8. Lead hull inspection programs and manage corrosion protection systems.
  9. Execute safety management for offshore "Hot Work" and confined spaces.
  10. Coordinate with Classification Societies for offshore structural surveys.
  11. Troubleshoot common failures in process modules and rotating equipment.
  12. Manage the logistics of supply vessel operations and personnel transfers.
  13. Lead emergency response for offshore spills, fires, and gas releases.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Offshore Installation Managers (OIM), Production Supervisors, Maintenance Engineers, Marine Superintendents, and Cargo Officers.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
