Wellhead Operations, Inspection, and Integrity Assurance

13 – 17 Apr. 2026, Dubai10 – 14 Aug. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

Wellhead Operations, Inspection, and Integrity Assurance is a specialized program designed to ensure the mechanical reliability and safety of the primary containment system. In an era of aging assets and high-pressure environments, the wellhead serves as the critical barrier between the reservoir and the environment. This course provides a comprehensive approach to the inspection, testing, and lifecycle management of wellhead components, ranging from casing heads to the Christmas Tree.

The scope of this training involves the practical application of industry standards such as API 6A and API 14C. Participants will explore the engineering of valve sealing mechanisms, the physics of annulus pressure behavior, and the criteria for barrier verification. The curriculum emphasizes the "Assurance" aspect, teaching engineers and technicians how to move beyond simple maintenance to a data-driven integrity management model that predicts failures before they occur.

Coverage also includes advanced diagnostic techniques for detecting internal leaks and external corrosion. Attendees will learn how to manage Sustained Casing Pressure (SCP) according to regulatory requirements and how to execute complex pressure tests. By mastering the protocols for wellhead inspection and integrity, participants will be able to minimize the risk of hydrocarbon release, extend the life of their surface assets, and ensure full compliance with corporate and international safety mandates.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Implement a comprehensive wellhead integrity management plan.
  • Identify early warning signs of wellhead component degradation.
  • Perform advanced pressure testing and barrier verification for all wellhead valves.
  • Analyze annulus pressure trends to distinguish between thermal effects and leaks.
  • Execute routine and non-routine wellhead maintenance including valve greasing.
  • Diagnose internal valve leaks and stem packing failures using field data.
  • Manage Sustained Casing Pressure (SCP) according to API RP 90-2 guidelines.
  • Evaluate the impact of H2S and CO2 on wellhead material integrity.
  • Supervise wellhead inspection programs including NDT (Non-Destructive Testing).
  • Verify the functionality of Emergency Shutdown (ESD) and SSV systems.
  • Document and report integrity status for regulatory audit compliance.
  • Coordinate wellhead repairs and component replacements safely.
  • Implement risk-based inspection frequencies for surface well assets.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Well Integrity Engineers, Production Supervisors, Maintenance Engineers, and Senior Field Operators.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
