Production Logging Fundamentals and Interpretation in Techlog

12 – 16 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi13 – 17 July 2026, Dubai

COURSE OVERVIEW:

Production Logging (PL) is the primary tool for understanding fluid movement within the wellbore. This course provides a comprehensive guide to PL sensors and the interpretation of their data using the Techlog software environment. Participants will learn how to determine which zones are contributing to production and where unwanted water or gas is entering the well.

The curriculum covers the mechanics of spinners, gradiomanometers, thermometers, and advanced multi-phase sensors. Attendees will learn how to handle the challenges of horizontal wells and complex flow regimes. The course provides intensive hands-on training in Techlog, focusing on data quality control, environmental corrections, and the calculation of phase flow rates across multiple zones.

By the end of the training, engineers and petrophysicists will be able to plan effective PL jobs, perform rigorous data interpretations, and provide actionable recommendations for zonal isolation, stimulation, or completion optimization.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Explain the physics of production logging sensors.
  • Select the appropriate PL tool string for specific well conditions.
  • Load and QC production logging data in Techlog.
  • Perform environmental corrections for temperature and pressure.
  • Interpret spinner data to determine total fluid velocity.
  • Use fluid density and holdup sensors to identify phase splits.
  • Analyze temperature and noise logs for leak detection and crossflow.
  • Perform multi-phase flow calculations in vertical and deviated wells.
  • Handle the complexities of interpretation in horizontal wellbores.
  • Identify producing zones, thief zones, and water entry points.
  • Utilize advanced array sensors for complex flow regimes.
  • Generate professional PL interpretation reports in Techlog.
  • Integrate PL results with reservoir simulation and surveillance.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Petrophysicists, Reservoir Engineers, Production Engineers, and Geoscientists.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
