Production Allocation, Well Testing Data, and Surveillance Reporting
| 26 – 30 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi | 19 – 23 Oct. 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
Accurate production allocation is the foundation of fiscal integrity and reservoir management. This course bridges the gap between field-measured data and corporate reporting. Participants will explore the methodologies used to allocate commingled production volumes back to individual wells and reservoirs, ensuring that every barrel of oil and cubic foot of gas is accounted for.
The curriculum focuses on the integration of well testing data with continuous surface measurements. Attendees will learn how to validate well test results, manage the "uncertainty budget" of different metering systems, and implement robust reconciliation workflows. The course also details the production of professional surveillance reports that provide asset managers with a clear picture of field health, decline rates, and potential intervention candidates.
Modern digital tools for data validation and automated allocation will be reviewed. By the end of the training, participants will be able to manage the entire allocation cycle, identify discrepancies between theoretical and actual production, and produce high-quality reports that satisfy both technical and financial stakeholders.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
- Define the importance of production allocation for fiscal and technical purposes.
- Explain the various allocation methods: Pro-rata, Component, and Dynamic.
- Validate well test data before its use in allocation algorithms.
- Manage discrepancies between wellhead and sales meter totals.
- Understand the impact of measurement uncertainty on allocation results.
- Utilize Virtual Flow Metering (VFM) as an allocation support tool.
- Design a surveillance reporting framework for asset management.
- Perform mass and volume balancing across gathering networks.
- Account for downtime, deferred production, and flare volumes.
- Navigate the regulatory and contractual requirements for allocation.
- Implement data quality control checks for SCADA and manual inputs.
- Prepare a monthly production surveillance and optimization report.
- Audit allocation workflows to ensure transparency and accuracy.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
Production Engineers, Production Accountants, Petroleum Technologists, and Data Analysts.
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:
A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
