LNG Trading and Commercial Operations
| 05 – 09 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi | 26 – 30 Oct. 2026, Dubai |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
The Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) market has transitioned from a series of rigid, long-term bilateral agreements to a dynamic, globalized commodity market. This course provides a deep dive into the commercial mechanisms that drive LNG trading, covering everything from supply-purchase agreements (SPAs) to spot market transactions. Participants will explore the unique physical properties of LNG and how the liquefaction, shipping, and regasification stages influence trading strategies and price formation.
A core focus of this training is the management of risk and flexibility within the LNG value chain. Attendees will examine different pricing benchmarks such as oil-indexation, Henry Hub, and JKM and learn how traders use hedging tools to manage exposure to price volatility. The course also details the operational complexities of LNG shipping, including boil-off gas management, vessel scheduling, and the role of portfolio players in optimizing cargo movements across different geographic basins.
Commercial operations in the LNG sector require a thorough understanding of the contractual frameworks that govern the industry. The curriculum covers the "rules of the game," including Take-or-Pay clauses, destination flexibility, and terminal access rights. By analyzing real-world trading scenarios and market trends, participants will gain the analytical skills needed to navigate the evolving LNG landscape, where energy security and the transition to lower-carbon fuels are reshaping commercial priorities.
