Operation, Diagnostics, and Maintenance of Equipment for Oil and Gas Production

01 – 05 June 2026, Abu Dhabi21 – 25 Sep. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The extraction and processing of hydrocarbons require the seamless integration of complex mechanical systems designed to operate under extreme pressures and corrosive environments. This course provides an in-depth exploration of the primary equipment found in oil and gas production facilities, including wellhead assemblies, separators, and multiphase pumps. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how these assets interact within the production stream, focusing on maintaining steady-state operations while maximizing throughput and safety.

Diagnostics in the oil and gas sector have evolved from basic inspections to advanced condition-monitoring techniques. This training focuses on identifying the early warning signs of equipment degradation caused by sand erosion, hydrogen sulfide embrittlement, and CO2 corrosion. The scope covers the use of vibration analysis, thermography, and ultrasonic testing to evaluate the health of rotating and static assets without interrupting production, allowing for a shift from reactive to proactive asset management.

Maintenance strategies for production equipment must account for the high cost of downtime and the logistical challenges of remote operations. This course outlines the development of reliability-centered maintenance plans specifically for separators, compressors, and heat exchangers. Coverage includes the critical procedures for vessel internal inspections, valve integrity testing, and the management of safety-instrumented systems. By the end of this program, attendants will be equipped to enhance the mechanical integrity and operational availability of critical production infrastructure.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

1.  Identify the core components of oil and gas production systems and their functional roles.

2.  Explain the operational principles of two-phase and three-phase production separators.

3.  Apply diagnostic techniques to detect internal fouling and scaling in heat exchangers.

4.  Perform integrity assessments on wellhead "Christmas Tree" valve configurations.

5.  Interpret vibration data to diagnose misalignment in high-pressure injection pumps.

6.  Evaluate the impact of produced water and gas contaminants on equipment longevity.

7.  Execute safe startup and shutdown sequences for complex production manifolds.

8.  Utilize ultrasonic thickness gauging to monitor corrosion rates in process piping.

9.  Troubleshoot common malfunctions in gas dehydration and sweetening units.

10.  Implement a risk-based inspection program for static pressure vessels.

11.  Manage the maintenance requirements for flare systems and pressure relief devices.

12.  Coordinate spare parts logistics for critical path equipment in remote locations.

13.  Analyze root causes of seal failures in multiphase pumping systems.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Production Engineers, Maintenance Supervisors, Mechanical Technicians, and Operations Personnel working in upstream and midstream oil and gas facilities.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
