Operation and Maintenance of Hydraulically Operated Equipment
| 11 – 15 May 2026, Abu Dhabi | 07 – 11 Sep. 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
The operation of modern industrial machinery relies heavily on the efficiency and reliability of hydraulic power systems. This course provides a deep dive into the mechanical and fluid dynamic principles that govern hydraulically operated equipment, ranging from simple cylinders to complex proportional valve systems. Participants will explore the critical relationship between fluid pressure, flow, and mechanical output, ensuring they can operate these systems at peak performance while minimizing energy loss and heat generation.
Maintenance of hydraulic systems requires a disciplined approach to cleanliness and component inspection to prevent premature failure. This training covers the systematic identification of wear patterns in pumps, motors, and valves, emphasizing the preventative measures necessary to extend the service life of expensive hydraulic components. The scope includes a detailed look at filtration strategies, seal compatibility, and the physical properties of hydraulic fluids that are essential for maintaining system integrity in harsh industrial environments.
Coverage extends beyond routine tasks to include advanced troubleshooting techniques for diagnosing system inefficiencies and mechanical malfunctions. By understanding the internal workings of directional, flow, and pressure control valves, attendants will be equipped to isolate faults quickly and accurately. This course ensures that all personnel involved with hydraulic machinery can implement best practices that enhance safety, reduce environmental impact through leak prevention, and ensure the continuous availability of critical production assets.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
1. Explain the fundamental principles of Pascal’s Law and its application in power transmission.
2. Identify and describe the function of all major components within a hydraulic circuit.
3. Perform routine inspections on hydraulic pumps and motors to detect early signs of cavitation.
4. Interpret complex hydraulic schematics to trace fluid flow and identify potential failure points.
5. Execute proper fluid sampling and contamination control procedures to meet ISO standards.
6. Adjust pressure relief valves and flow control devices to optimize system performance.
7. Diagnose the root causes of excessive heat and noise within hydraulically operated machinery.
8. Select the appropriate hydraulic fluid based on viscosity, temperature, and environmental factors.
9. Replace seals and gaskets using precision techniques to ensure leak-free operation.
10. Implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance schedule for hydraulic accumulators and heat exchangers.
11. Utilize diagnostic tools such as flow meters and pressure gauges for system health assessment.
12. Manage the safe startup and shutdown procedures for high-pressure hydraulic systems.
13. Apply troubleshooting logic to solve common cylinder and actuator performance issues.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
Maintenance Technicians, Mechanical Engineers, Hydraulic System Operators, and Plant Supervisors responsible for the upkeep and reliability of fluid power systems.
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:
A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
