Compressors Operation, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting (Practical)
| 04 – 08 May 2026, Abu Dhabi | 03 – 07 Aug. 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
The ability to translate theoretical knowledge into practical field skills is essential for anyone responsible for industrial compressors. This course focuses on the hands-on operational and maintenance tasks required to keep centrifugal and reciprocating compressors running at peak efficiency. Participants will engage with the real-world procedures for monitoring, adjusting, and repairing these critical machines in a plant environment.
The scope of this training emphasizes the practical execution of operator rounds, the verification of auxiliary system health, and the performance of routine maintenance tasks. We will analyze the physical behavior of compressors during startup, loading, and shutdown, providing a clear understanding of the "feel" and "sound" of a healthy machine. The course provides a technical roadmap for the practical use of diagnostic tools, from simple handheld vibration meters to complex control interfaces.
Coverage includes the practical steps for replacing filters, managing oil levels, and performing basic troubleshooting on seals and valves. Attendees will learn how to identify leaks, interpret local gauges, and respond correctly to alarm conditions. By the end of this course, participants will have developed the practical confidence to manage compressor assets effectively, ensuring both personal safety and equipment longevity.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
- Conduct a comprehensive operator round on a compressor train.
- Execute safe startup and shutdown procedures with practical precision.
- Monitor and adjust lubrication and seal gas system parameters.
- Perform routine maintenance on oil filters and coolers.
- Identify and locate various types of mechanical and gas leaks.
- Interpret local pressure, temperature, and level gauges accurately.
- Use handheld tools to monitor vibration and temperature.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on reciprocating compressor valves.
- Execute a proper oil sampling procedure for laboratory analysis.
- Identify the physical signs of compressor surge and instability.
- Manage the draining of scrubbers and liquid separators.
- Inspect and maintain compressor couplings and guards.
- Respond correctly to common compressor alarm and trip signals.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
Field Operators, Maintenance Technicians, Mechanical Apprentices, and Workshop Staff.
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:
A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
