Turnaround Planning and Execution (Advanced)
| 26 – 30 Jan. 2026, Dubai | 21 – 25 Dec. 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
The fundamental meaning of this course is the mastery of high-complexity Turnaround (TAR) management, focusing on the sophisticated integration of planning logic and field execution discipline. Advanced turnaround management requires a transition from simple task listing to a comprehensive "Critical Path Method" (CPM) strategy that accounts for resource constraints, safety interdependencies, and production requirements. This course provides the engineering-level skills needed to manage the high-pressure environment of multi-million dollar plant outages.
The scope of this training involves the advanced application of the "Milestone Plan," from the initial long-range scope development to the detailed "Day-by-Day" execution schedule. Participants will examine the "Ready-for-Start" process, utilizing "Pre-Turnaround Readiness Reviews" to identify gaps in logistics, manpower, or materials. The curriculum emphasizes the "Execution Control" phase, where real-time data is used to steer the project away from schedule drift and toward a successful, leak-free startup.
Coverage includes the management of "Simultaneous Operations" (SIMOPS), the utilization of "Advanced Planning Software," and the implementation of "Quality Assurance" hold points. Attendees will explore "Risk-Based Scoping" and "Discovery Management" protocols that protect the project finish date. By the end of this program, participants will be able to manage the entire TAR lifecycle, ensuring that the event is safe, technically sound, and delivers the maximum possible value to the organization.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
- Define the technical phases of the "Advanced Turnaround Lifecycle."
- Implement a "Risk-Based Scoping" process to optimize work volume.
- Master the "Critical Path Method" (CPM) for complex interdependent tasks.
- Conduct "Detailed Readiness Reviews" at T-12, T-6, and T-2 milestones.
- Manage "Long-Lead Item" procurement and tracking for major overhauls.
- Utilize "Advanced Scheduling Software" (Primavera P6) for resource leveling.
- Establish a "Turnaround Command Center" for field execution control.
- Implement a "Joint Integrity" program to ensure a "Leak-Free" startup.
- Manage "Discovery Work" through a structured impact analysis.
- Conduct "SIMOPS" risk assessments for congested work areas.
- Utilize "Earned Value Management" (EVM) to monitor TAR performance.
- Lead a "Flawless Startup" and "Pre-Startup Safety Review" (PSSR) process.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
This course is essential for Turnaround Managers, Senior Planners, Maintenance Superintendents, Project Engineers, and Asset Managers.
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:
A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
