Turnaround Lessons Learned, Closeout, and Performance Reporting
| 19 – 23 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi | 14 – 18 Dec. 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
The fundamental meaning of this course is the systematic capture of knowledge and the rigorous financial and technical reconciliation of a major plant turnaround (TAR). Often, organizations rush into the next production cycle without properly documenting the "As-Found" condition of assets or the systemic inefficiencies that occurred during the outage. This course focuses on the "Post-Execution" phase as a critical driver for organizational maturity and the primary source of data for the next turnaround planning cycle.
The scope of this training involves the technical "Closeout" of maintenance work orders, the finalization of capital project documentation, and the comprehensive audit of safety and quality performance. Participants will examine the "Lessons Learned" methodology, moving beyond superficial complaints to identify root causes of schedule or cost variances. The curriculum emphasizes the "Performance Reporting" aspect, teaching attendees how to synthesize thousands of data points into a high-level executive summary that clearly communicates the return on investment.
Coverage includes the management of "Punch-List" items, the reconciliation of contractor invoices, and the updating of "Asset Integrity" records based on inspection results. Attendees will explore the use of "KPI Dashboards" to compare actual performance against the original "Turnaround Milestone Plan." By the end of this program, participants will be able to lead a professional turnaround closeout process that secures the technical gains of the event and ensures that mistakes are not repeated in future outages.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
- Define the technical requirements for a "World-Class" Turnaround Closeout.
- Facilitate "Lessons Learned" workshops using structured brainstorming techniques.
- Reconcile "Actual vs. Planned" costs to identify specific budget variances.
- Analyze "Schedule Performance" and the impact of discovery work on the critical path.
- Conduct "Technical Closeout" of work orders within the site CMMS.
- Manage the "Punch-List" transition from the TAR team to routine maintenance.
- Update "Asset Integrity" records and corrosion studies with as-found data.
- Evaluate "Contractor Performance" based on safety, quality, and productivity.
- Generate a comprehensive "Final Turnaround Report" for executive stakeholders.
- Implement a "Knowledge Management" system to store turnaround data.
