Maintenance Planning, Scheduling, and Work Control (Integrated)

06 – 10 Apr. 2026, Cairo31 Aug. – 04 Sep. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The transition from reactive firefighting to a proactive maintenance culture is impossible without a disciplined and integrated work management system. This course provides a comprehensive framework for Maintenance Planning, Scheduling, and Work Control, focusing on the critical separation between the "What and How" (Planning) and the "When and Who" (Scheduling). It emphasizes the creation of a seamless workflow that ensures all resources, parts, and tools are staged before a technician is ever assigned to a task.

The scope of this training involves the end-to-end lifecycle of a work order, from initial identification and screening to final close-out and history capture. Participants will learn how to build high-quality job plans, utilize "Standard Job Libraries," and facilitate effective weekly scheduling meetings with Operations. The curriculum focuses heavily on improving "Wrench Time" by eliminating the common wastes associated with waiting for parts, searching for information, or traveling between job sites.

Coverage includes the development of a "Ready Backlog," the use of "Critical Path Method" (CPM) for complex repairs, and the integration of the CMMS as the primary engine for work control. Attendees will explore the specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) required to measure planning effectiveness and schedule compliance. By the end of this course, participants will be able to implement an integrated work control process that maximizes labor productivity, reduces maintenance costs, and improves asset reliability.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Define the distinct roles and responsibilities of the Planner and the Scheduler.
  • Implement a standardized six-step "Work Management Flow" within the CMMS.
  • Screen and prioritize work requests based on risk and business impact.
  • Develop detailed "Job Packages" including procedures, parts, and safety requirements.
  • Estimate labor man-hours and durations with high precision.
  • Build a "Weekly Maintenance Schedule" that is synchronized with Production.
  • Manage the "Ready-to-Schedule" backlog to ensure continuous work availability.
  • Utilize "Kitting and Staging" techniques for spare parts and specialized tools.
  • Measure and improve "Wrench Time" through the elimination of waste.
  • Facilitate productive "Weekly Scheduling Meetings" with Operations stakeholders.
  • Track "Schedule Compliance" and analyze the root causes of "Break-in" work.
  • Capture high-quality "Technical History" to drive future reliability improvements.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is essential for Maintenance Planners, Schedulers, Maintenance Supervisors, Operations Coordinators, and CMMS Administrators.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:
