Maintenance Documentation, Standards, and Procedures Development

19 – 23 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi12 – 16 Oct. 2026, Dubai

COURSE OVERVIEW:

In a high-reliability organization, the quality of maintenance work is directly proportional to the quality of the documentation that guides it. This course provides a structured approach to the creation, management, and optimization of technical maintenance documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Job Plans, and Asset Registries. It focuses on eliminating "Tribal Knowledge" by capturing the expertise of the workforce in a clear, standardized, and accessible digital format.

The scope of this training involves the development of high-impact technical content that enhances both safety and efficiency. Participants will learn how to write effective step-by-step instructions, use visual aids for clarity, and establish document control systems that ensure technicians always have the latest revision. The curriculum emphasizes the alignment of procedures with international standards (such as ISO 55000 and ISO 9001) and the integration of these documents within the CMMS environment.

Coverage includes the techniques for "Task Analysis," the creation of "Master Data" standards, and the management of "Technical Drawings" and O and M manuals. Attendees will explore the human factors of documentation, ensuring that procedures are not just technically accurate but also "User-Friendly" and easy to follow under pressure. By the end of this course, participants will be able to lead a documentation overhaul project that reduces human error, standardizes work quality, and preserves organizational knowledge for future generations.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Define the hierarchy of maintenance documentation (Policies to Procedures).
  • Establish "Master Data" standards for the Asset Registry and CMMS.
  • Conduct a "Task Analysis" to identify critical steps in a procedure.
  • Write clear, concise, and unambiguous step-by-step Job Plans.
  • Utilize visual aids, photos, and diagrams to enhance understanding.
  • Establish a "Document Control" system for revisions and approvals.
  • Align maintenance procedures with ISO 55000 and safety regulations.
  • Create standardized "Inspection Checklists" for preventive maintenance.
  • Manage the "Technical Library", including O&M manuals and drawings.
  • Utilize "Feedback Loops" to continuously improve procedure accuracy.
  • Design a "Digital Documentation" strategy for mobile maintenance teams.
  • Develop "Standard Operating Procedures" (SOPs) for high-risk tasks.
