Investing in Effective Maintenance: Improving Operational Success

06 – 10 Apr. 2026, Dubai06 – 10 July 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

Maintenance is often viewed as a cost center, but when managed effectively, it becomes a primary driver of organizational profitability and safety. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the strategic value of maintenance and how to invest resources, time, money, and talent to achieve maximum operational success. It focuses on the transition from "fixing things" to "managing assets" for the entire life cycle.

The scope of this training involves the exploration of fundamental maintenance philosophies, including Preventive, Predictive, and Corrective strategies. Participants will learn how to build a basic business case for maintenance expenditures, understanding the trade-offs between "Maintenance Cost" and "The Cost of Failure." The curriculum emphasizes the "Six Big Losses" in industrial operations and how a disciplined maintenance approach can reclaim lost capacity and extend the life of high-value equipment.

Coverage includes the role of leadership in maintenance culture, the importance of standardized work management, and the basics of spare parts management. Attendees will explore how to measure maintenance performance using simple but powerful metrics like OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and budget compliance. By the end of this course, participants will be able to justify maintenance investments and implement basic reliability practices that deliver immediate improvements in plant uptime and safety.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Explain the business case for maintenance as a "Profit Center."
  • Identify the "Six Big Losses" and how maintenance mitigates them.
  • Distinguish between the various maintenance strategies (Run-to-Failure, PM, PdM).
  • Utilize "Risk-Based Thinking" to prioritize maintenance investments.
  • Calculate the "Return on Investment" (ROI) for basic maintenance improvements.
