Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS): Fundamentals and Setup

05 – 09 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi23 – 27 Nov. 2026, Sharm El Shaikh

COURSE OVERVIEW:

A Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is the engine that drives modern asset management, yet many organizations fail to realize its full potential due to poor initial setup or a lack of fundamental understanding. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the core modules and functional requirements of a CMMS. It is designed to take participants from the basic concepts of digital maintenance records to the practical implementation of a system that supports reliability and operational excellence.

The scope of this training involves the exploration of the primary CMMS components, including Asset Management, Work Management, Inventory Control, and Procurement. Participants will learn how to define system requirements, select appropriate software, and configure the environment to match their unique operational needs. The course emphasizes the importance of data structure and user roles, ensuring that the system is both functional for the technical team and informative for the management team.

Coverage includes the transition from manual or spreadsheet based systems to a centralized digital platform. Attendees will explore the latest trends in CMMS technology, such as cloud hosting, mobile integration, and the "Internet of Things" (IoT). By the end of this course, participants will have a clear understanding of how to set up, launch, and maintain a CMMS that serves as the "single source of truth" for all maintenance activities, leading to improved organization, better cost tracking, and enhanced asset longevity.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Explain the core functions and business benefits of a CMMS.
  • Navigate the primary modules: Assets, Work Orders, Inventory, and Purchasing.
  • Develop a CMMS implementation roadmap and project plan.
  • Define user roles, permissions, and security profiles within the system.
  • Establish a standardized asset naming and numbering convention.
  • Configure basic work order types and priority systems.
  • Understand the requirements for mobile and cloud-based CMMS solutions.
  • Map maintenance business processes to CMMS workflows.
  • Identify the hardware and IT infrastructure needed for system support.
  • Plan for data migration from legacy systems or manual records.
  • Design a basic user training program for system rollout.
  • Evaluate CMMS software vendors based on organizational needs.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is designed for Maintenance Managers, IT Project Managers, CMMS Administrators, Maintenance Supervisors, and anyone involved in the selection or initial setup of a maintenance software system.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
