Advanced Maintenance Planning, Scheduling, and Management Techniques
| 05 – 09 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi | 06 – 10 July 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
Maintenance planning and scheduling represent the backbone of a successful industrial operation, serving as the bridge between reactive firefighting and proactive reliability. This course explores the sophisticated methodologies required to transform a maintenance department into a value-driven entity. It emphasizes the strategic alignment of maintenance activities with organizational goals, ensuring that every hour of labor and every spare part contributes to the overall stability and productivity of the plant.
The scope of this training encompasses the entire lifecycle of maintenance work management, from the initial identification of a defect to the final documentation of completed tasks. Participants will delve into the technicalities of work order systems, resource leveling, and the integration of modern software tools. By focusing on the "how" and "when" of maintenance, the course provides a comprehensive framework for managing complex workflows, reducing equipment downtime, and optimizing the utilization of both human and material resources.
Coverage includes a deep dive into advanced scheduling algorithms, the application of Key Performance Indicators for continuous improvement, and the psychology of change management within a maintenance environment. The program addresses the challenges of coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing third-party contractors within tight operational windows. By the end of this course, attendees will possess a robust toolkit of techniques to streamline their maintenance processes, enhance asset reliability, and significantly reduce operational expenditures.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
- Implement advanced planning principles to increase wrench time and decrease idle labor hours.
- Develop a structured workflow process for identifying, planning, and executing maintenance tasks.
- Apply resource leveling techniques to balance workload against available manpower and skills.
- Utilize critical path methods and PERT charts for complex maintenance projects and shutdowns.
- Analyze maintenance backlogs to prioritize work based on risk and operational impact.
- Establish effective communication channels between operations, maintenance, and procurement departments.
- Design and monitor meaningful Key Performance Indicators to track planning effectiveness.
- Master the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems for data-driven decision making.
- Evaluate the quality of completed work through structured post-job reviews and audits.
- Integrate predictive maintenance data into the weekly scheduling cycle for proactive intervention.
- Manage spare parts inventory and procurement cycles to support planned maintenance activities.
- Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and discipline within the maintenance team.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
This course is specifically designed for Maintenance Managers, Planning Engineers, Maintenance Supervisors, Reliability Engineers, Asset Managers, CMMS Administrators, and Operations Coordinators who are responsible for the efficiency and reliability of industrial plant assets.
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:
A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
