Chemical Inventory Logistics: Strategic Management and Procurement

29 June – 03 July 2026, Abu Dhabi16 – 20 Nov. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The meaning of this course lies in the strategic integration of supply chain management with the technical requirements of the chemical laboratory. Managing a chemical inventory is not merely a task of storage; it is a complex logistical challenge that impacts laboratory safety, financial efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This program provides the expertise necessary to manage the lifecycle of hazardous and high-purity materials from the point of order to final consumption.

The scope of the training addresses the dual challenges of inventory optimization and hazard communication. It covers the application of "Just-in-Time" procurement principles to reduce chemical waste and carrying costs while ensuring that critical reagents are always available for urgent analytical tasks. Participants will explore the legal frameworks governing chemical transport, the nuances of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for labeling, and the technical requirements for segregated storage based on chemical compatibility.

The coverage includes comprehensive training on digital inventory tracking systems, including barcode and RFID technology. Attendees will learn to manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS), conduct effective inventory audits, and develop sustainable procurement strategies that favor green chemistry. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to build a resilient and compliant chemical logistics system that supports the laboratory's operational goals while protecting personnel and the environment.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Design a comprehensive chemical inventory management system.
  • Implement GHS and NFPA 704 labeling and hazard communication protocols.
  • Apply chemical compatibility rules to ensure safe segregated storage.
  • Optimize procurement cycles using Lean and "Just-in-Time" inventory principles.
  • Manage the logistics of "Cold Chain" transport for sensitive reagents.
  • Utilize barcode and RFID technology for real-time inventory visibility.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for chemical storage and handling areas.
  • Manage SDS databases to ensure full regulatory and safety compliance.
  • Implement sustainable procurement strategies to minimize chemical waste.
  • Coordinate the safe transport of hazardous materials according to IATA and ADR.
  • Execute rigorous inventory audits and reconciliation procedures.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and technical specifications for chemical supply.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is intended for Laboratory Managers, Warehouse Supervisors, Procurement Officers, EHS Specialists, and Logistics Coordinators responsible for the chemical supply chain in industrial or research settings.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
