Advanced Sampling Protocols: Collection, Labeling, and Field Safety

30 Mar. – 03 Apr. 2026, Dubai24 – 28 Aug. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The meaning of this course lies in the recognition that an analytical result is only as good as the sample that represents it. In complex industrial and environmental settings, the process of collecting a representative portion of a larger population is fraught with potential bias and contamination. This course provides the rigorous scientific framework necessary to ensure that samples are collected with statistical integrity and technical precision.

The scope of this program covers a wide range of sampling environments, including high-pressure pipelines, deep groundwater wells, hazardous waste sites, and industrial storage tanks. It details the mechanics of sampling hardware, from automated composite samplers to specialized point-source devices. By focusing on the "Chain of Custody" and sophisticated labeling systems, the course ensures that the integrity of the sample is maintained from the moment of collection until it reaches the laboratory bench.

The coverage includes advanced field safety protocols, the management of hazardous atmospheres, and the legal requirements for sample transport. Participants will learn how to develop comprehensive sampling plans, manage field data using mobile technology, and prevent cross-contamination through rigorous equipment decontamination. This course empowers field personnel and technicians to serve as the critical first link in the analytical quality chain.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Design statistically sound sampling plans for diverse environmental and industrial matrices.
  • Operate advanced sampling equipment for liquids, solids, and gases.
  • Apply rigorous decontamination procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Implement a robust Chain of Custody system for legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Execute high-pressure and high-temperature sampling with precision and safety.
  • Utilize GPS and mobile data logging for accurate sample site documentation.
  • Select appropriate containers and preservatives for various analytical targets.
  • Conduct field risk assessments and manage personal safety in hazardous areas.
  • Label samples using advanced barcode and RFID tracking systems.
  • Manage the logistics of temperature-controlled sample transportation.
  • Evaluate the representative nature of samples using statistical tools.
  • Formulate emergency response procedures for field sampling accidents.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is designed for Field Technicians, Environmental Scientists, Laboratory Personnel, Site Supervisors, and Quality Assurance Officers responsible for the collection and handling of samples.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
